THE OPPORTUNITY

Join our team as a Senior Audio Visual Technician and take charge of dynamic Audio Visual projects for the City’s cable access channel and high-profile public events! This advanced-level position offers the chance to lead production teams, operate state-of-the-art AV systems, and contribute to the city’s public outreach through live broadcasts, filming, editing, and more. If you’re ready to make an impact, we want to hear from you! The position will lead AV production for City events, including live broadcasts, meetings, and press conferences. They will also operate and configure cutting-edge AV equipment (multi-camera systems, lighting, sound boards, and videoconferencing systems). With the opportunity to design, install, and troubleshoot AV systems in City facilities.

Our ideal Senior Audio Visual Technician is a highly skilled and proactive professional with advanced technical expertise in audiovisual systems, including multi-camera setups, lighting rigs, soundboards, and videoconferencing tools. With a strong background in live event production and media creation, this candidate excels at leading AV projects, mentoring junior team members, and ensuring all tasks meet the highest quality standards. They possess exceptional troubleshooting abilities, quickly identifying and resolving issues in high-pressure environments, especially during live events. A creative problem-solver with a keen eye for visual storytelling, they produce engaging, professional-quality video content. Always staying ahead of emerging technologies, they seek innovative ways to improve production processes and services. In addition to their technical prowess, they are a clear and effective communicator who fosters strong relationships with internal teams, external vendors, and the public. This individual thrives in dynamic settings, combining technical expertise with leadership and creativity to deliver exceptional AV experiences.

MINIMUM AND DESIRABLE QUALIFICATIONS

  • A combination of education, training, and experience equivalent to completion of an associate’s degree from an accredited college or university with major coursework in digital media, media communications, broadcasting, audiovisual technology, information technology, or a closely related field.
  • A minimum of three (3) years of professional, hands-on experience in media and video production or television broadcasting is required, including at least two (2) years of recent experience in live broadcast production.
