Group Overview

Air Mobility Group (AIRMOB) is responsible for developing and delivering Metrea’s aerial refueling (AAR) capabilities, ensuring the readiness and operational effectiveness of the tanker fleet. AIRMOB oversees fleet management, maintenance, and airworthiness, working to sustain and enhance refueling operations. It manages the integration of new processes and technologies, ensuring that tanker aircraft remain mission-ready through effective logistics, maintenance oversight, and regulatory compliance. By coordinating across various teams, AIRMOB ensures the fleet meets both current and future operational needs, supporting a range of specialized air mobility missions.

Position Summary

The Line Maintenance Supervisor provides direct, hands-on leadership for daily maintenance operations on AIRMOB KC-135R, C-135FR, and KC-135RG aircraft. This role is responsible for overseeing Maintenance Leads and their teams of technicians to ensure aircraft are maintained safely, efficiently, and in compliance with FAA regulations, technical publications and company procedures.

The Supervisor serves as the link between frontline maintenance execution and the Maintenance Manager. While the Maintenance Manager establishes departmental policies, resources, and long-term planning, the Line Maintenance Supervisor ensures these directives are carried out effectively at the shift and task level.

Role and Responsibilities

  • Leadership & Oversight
  • Supervise and direct Maintenance Leads, providing clear priorities, guidance, and support.
  • Ensure Leads effectively manage their assigned technicians and work packages.
  • Conduct shift briefings, communicate assignments, and enforce safety and compliance expectations.
  • Manages personnel scheduling and time off.
  • Operational Execution
  • Monitor daily line maintenance activities, including scheduled, unscheduled, and troubleshooting tasks.
  • Ensure timely completion of work to support flight schedules and minimize aircraft downtime.
  • Verify accuracy of logbook entries, sign-offs, and documentation in accordance with FAA regulations and company GMM.
  • Coordination & Communication
  • Act as the primary point of contact between Maintenance Leads and the Maintenance Manager.
  • Escalate issues such as resource shortages, deferred maintenance items, or major discrepancies to the Manager for resolution.
  • Coordinate daily requirements with Maintenance Control, Quality Assurance, and Supply Chain to align resources with operational needs.
  • Safety & Compliance
  • Enforce Metrea’s Safety Management System (SMS), FAA regulatory compliance, and workplace standards.
  • Ensure Leads and technicians maintain proper use of tools, calibrated equipment, and protective gear.
  • Report hazards, incidents, and irregularities promptly, and support corrective action implementation.
  • Team Development
  • Mentor and coach Maintenance Leads to build leadership skills and technical knowledge.
  • Provide feedback to the Maintenance Manager on Lead and technician performance to support evaluations and career development.
  • Support on-the-job training and technical development initiatives.

Skills and Experience

  • High School Diploma or Equivalent.
  • FAA Airframe & Powerplant (A&P) Certificate.
  • Minimum 3 years of aircraft maintenance experience on turbine-powered aircraft (KC-135 or similar platform preferred).
  • Proven leadership experience as a Lead Mechanic, Crew Chief, or equivalent.
  • Strong knowledge of aircraft manuals (USAF TO System, CMM, AMM, FIM, IPC, WDM, SRM) and FAA documentation standards.
  • Ability to lead teams in high-tempo, international operational environments.
  • U.S. Citizenship with ability to obtain security clearance and passport.

Additional Eligibility Qualifications

  • Prior experience supervising legacy tanker fleets (KC-135, C-135, or similar).
  • Familiarity with FL3XX, AMOS, Baldwin Safety, Monday.com, reliability programs, and continuing analysis/surveillance systems.

Position Type and Expected Hours of Work

This is a full-time non-exempt position with typical working hours of Monday through Friday, 6:30 a.m. to 3:30 p.m. Hours and work shifts may change in accordance with department and business needs. Exempt Employees must have the ability to be on-call and available, as business needs require. Non-Exempt employees may be required to work over 40 hours per week with approval from the department manager.

Work Environment

This job operates in an office setting as well as in an industrial area to include: on aircraft, on the active flightline, within warehouse areas, back shop industrial areas, indoors, and outdoors. The position is subjected to high decibel noise, as well as exposure to chemicals and dangerous operations associated with aircraft maintenance. This position involves daily physical activities such as walking, lifting, reaching overhead, and standing for long periods.

Travel

Travel requirements may be up to 50% with 45 consecutive days working in India as operations require.
