Pediatric Speech and Language Pathologist in Riverside, CA

This contract opportunity is for a skilled Speech-Language Pathologist (SLP) to conduct a one-time AAC assessment for a K-12 school located in Riverside, CA, serving moderate to severe students with extensive communication needs. The focus is on evaluating a student currently using an AAC device who repeatedly breaks their device. The school is exploring options for a lower tech communication device, and the selected SLP will provide expert evaluation and recommendations accordingly.

Key Responsibilities

  • Conduct a comprehensive AAC assessment tailored to the student’s unique communication needs.
  • Evaluate the student’s current AAC device usage and challenges, including frequent device breakage.
  • Assess the potential benefits and limitations of lower tech communication devices.
  • Provide detailed recommendations and justification for device selection, supporting any transition to a lower tech device if appropriate.
  • Collaborate with school staff and stakeholders to communicate assessment findings effectively.
  • Customize Keyguard technology for AAC devices as applicable.
  • Maintain professional documentation consistent with school and contractual requirements.

Desired Qualifications and Experience

  • Certificate of Clinical Competence in Speech-Language Pathology (CCC-SLP) preferred.
  • Experience in pediatric speech-language pathology, ideally within a school or healthcare setting.
  • Demonstrated expertise in AAC evaluation and intervention, including hands-on experience with AAC devices.
  • Strong familiarity with Keyguard technology customization.
  • Ability to articulate clinical reasoning for device recommendations to educational teams.
  • Previous experience working in K-12 educational environments.
  • Ability to perform teletherapy is a plus but not required for this role.

Location: Riverside, CA (Contract Position)
