Position Information

Under the general supervision of the lead programmer, this position is primarily serves as a software application programmer with a major emphasis on developing reports, modifying the user interfaces, maintaining systems documentation, and adding more functionalities to the existing systems using front-end technologies including and not limited to HTML5, Bootstrap, CSS, and JavaScript and server-side technologies such as PHP, SQL, and PL/SQL on MySQL and Oracle databases. The full salary range for the Software Developer 1 is $25.43 - $42.95 per hour. However, the expected pay scale for this position is up to $32.35 per hour. We base salary offers on a variety of considerations, such as education, licensure and certifications, experience, and other business and organizational needs. Applicants must have current work authorization when accepting a UCR staff position. Currently, we are unable to sponsor or take over sponsorship of an employment Visa for staff. As a University employee, you will be required to comply with all applicable University policies and/or collective bargaining agreements, as may be amended from time to time. Federal, state, or local government directives may impose additional requirements.

Knowledge in designing, building, and delivering web applications using PL/SQL, PHP, JavaScript toolkits such as TypeScript, React, Angular, jQuery.

  • Knowledge relating to the design development, modification and implementation of software including object-oriented programming concepts.
  • Demonstrated effective communication and interpersonal skills.
  • Demonstrated ability to communicate technical information to technical and non-technical personnel at various levels in the organization.
  • Self-motivated and works independently and as part of a team. Able to learn effectively and meet deadlines.
  • Able to multi-task and prioritize tasks.
  • Demonstrated skill to analyze current systems in order to redesign systems using Caspio low-code platform.

Preferred Qualifications

  • Demonstrates good judgment and decision-making; problem identification and resolution; experience in supporting Windows/Mac computers hardware setup, installation, and troubleshooting issues.
  • Strong understanding of RDBMS concepts and knowledge of Oracle and mySQL database, SQL programming, stored procedures, functions, triggers, views.
  • Knowledge of the principles and practices of systems and applications programming, and best practices for quality software development.
  • Familiarity with data warehouse products in a cloud environment such as Google BigQuery and Looker.
  • Exposure to PostgreSQL or MongoDB is a plus.
